CHECKLIST FOR TOWER CRANE 

This Tower Crane checklist provides an overview of the fundamental and basic requirements to be examined and verified carefully which would help that a tower crane is stable and safe to operate for users. Tower crane operators should get technical guidelines from manufacturers, suppliers, and owners to check on minimum requirements appropriately and address and highlight any concerns or issues before using the Tower Crane/equipment. These important items and points in this checklist are non-exhaustive and users are recommended to make the mandatory modifications, alterations, and customization to suit their work processes and conditions in a safe and secure workplace.

A. Mobile/ Crawler Crane Approved for Use

  1. Is the cell/crawler craneage inside recommended, secure, and within the proper limits set by MOM?
  2. Does the mobile/crawler crane have a valid Lifting Machine (LM) certificate/license to address, and fulfill legal requirements (issued less than twelve-12 months ago)?

B. General Requirements

  1. The cell/ crawler crane is furnished as it should be and basically with markings of the Safe Working Load, and Lifting Machine number.
  2. Proper and secure admission to and egress (with proper foot and handholds/ supports) are provided to the crane operator.
  3. A load capability chart is easily available and displayed inside the crane operator cabin.
  4. The operator crane cabin is supplied with a locking mechanism to prevent unauthorized entry.
  5. An accredited fireplace extinguisher is provided in the operator's cabin.
  6. An Operation and Maintenance logbook is to be had within the operator's cabin.
  7. A Manufacturer's Operating Manual and Maintenance Manual are made to be had.
  8. The Crane hook is supplied with a safety catch to prevent displacement of the sling or load from the hook.
  9. Primary and auxiliary twine ropes are properly maintained, and lubricated and there are no apparent defects or faults which include damaged and deteriorated wires, kinks, extra wear, crushing, and so forth.
  10. The cell/ crawler crane is provided with proper and necessary markings of the Safe Working Load, and Lifting Machine number.
  11. Proper and safe get admission to and egress (with the right foot and handholds/ supports) are supplied to the crane operator.

                    C. Safety and Operational Devices

                    1. A load radius indicator with a warning alarm is mounted.
                    2. A powerful hoist and derrick braking mechanism are maintained.
                    3. A swing lock or swing brake capable of preventing unintentional rotation is useful.
                    4. Limit transfer to prevent over-hoisting of the hook (i.e., anti-block device) is functional.
                    5. Limit transfer to save you over-derricks of the increase (for crawler crane) is purposeful.
                    6. Load Moment Limiter to prevent over-turning moment is useful.
                    7. The mobile/ crawler crane has regular preservation software this is following the manufacturer’s specs.
                    8. Maintenance paintings at the cell/ crawler crane are completed by Competent Persons.
