Hazard Identified

Control Measures

1. The whole working area must be properly isolated from other unauthorized personnel. 
2. Watch person be provided aware other people of the ongoing activity.
3. All the utility services including the waterline and Cables should be disconnected before the demolition process started.
4. Respective NOCs should be obtained from the concerned authority before the commencement of work.
5. Toolbox must be conducted and it must be documented.
6. A supervisor must be available at the site during the dismantling of the electrical cables.
7. Waste debris raised during this process must be removed immediately.
8. Hand gloves must be issued to workers who are handling sharp edge objects.
9. The 3rd party-certified MEWP must be used.
10. Ensure the operator has a valid 3rd party training card.
11. The whole working area must be properly isolated from unauthorized personnel.
12. Watch person to be provided to aware other people of the - going activity.
13. The slab and other structures to be demolished must be protected to prevent them from toppling over.
14. Safe access must be provided for going in and out of the working area.
15. The site engineer together with the safety officer will conduct a toolbox talk, with the involved group before commencing the job.
16. MS and RA must be communicated to the site operatives and recorded.
17. Only a competent person shall be permitted to carry out the demolition activity.
18. Full-time supervisor to facilitate and look over and monitor the whole operation.
19. Edge protection must be provided over the roof sheet.
20. Edge protection post to be installed using MEWP. 
21. Make sure that MEWP and the operator is 3rd party certified and competent.
22. Provide roof access and avoid using MEWP for accessing the roof.
23. A safety net will be provided beneath the roof sheet to prevent the person from falling from height.
24. Toolbox talk must be conducted regarding the hazard and risks associated with the removal of the existing roof sheet.
25. Where tools or equipment are being used adjacent to a roof edge and there is a risk of falling of objects, to prevent, the objects must be attached to the safety lanyard.
26. The old panels should be brought to the ground periodically to avoid the over-stacking of panels on the roof.
27. Eye protection, gloves, and suitable clothing to be worn.
28. Ensure all staff who undertake cutting/burning duties are competent.
29. Hot work is to be supervised closely and undertaken only under A Hot Work. Permit issued by Safety officer.
30. Flashback arresters and non-return valves must be fitted to gas hoses and bottles.
31. Hose lengths should be kept to a minimum
32. Make sure that the area is isolated
33. Keep the area clean such that no machines or materials are stored in the area
34. Keep adequate signboards.
35. The Excavators and its operator to be 3rd party certified Spray water periodically to avoid dust pollution
36. Remove the concrete waste periodically
37. Suitable PPE like Safety shoes and safety gloves to be worn by the workers.
38. Ear protection is to be provided for the workers.
39. All debris is to be segregated and stockpiled by the plant ready for disposal.
40. Strictly comply with the PTW system.
41. All the crane operators and riggers must have Govt. /State’s approved 3rd party certificate.
42. Ensure all safety and operational instructions are followed as per the MS.
43. Only Govt. /State’s approved third-party riggers would be authorized to give the signal.
44. Work will not be permitted if wind speed reaches 30 KM/HR
45. A competent supervisor must monitor the working area to ensure that the proper procedure of demolition is followed as mentioned in MS
46. Full-body Harness must be worn by the worker, where there is a tendency of falling from height.
47. Suitable PPE like safety shoes and safety gloves to be worn by workers.
48. Dust masks are to be provided for the workers involved in the activity.
49. Workers handling Hilti/Jackhammers must be given ample time to recover from the impact of this equipment.
50. Spray Water periodically to avoid dust pollution
51. Provide dust masks to Labors as per the requirement
52. Provide Goggles to laborers as per the requirement
53. Noise is to be controlled and reduced to as low as is reasonably practical through the careful selection of plants and methods of demolition.
54. When noise is believed to be above 80 dBA (i.e. when you have to raise your voice to be heard two meters away).
55. Appropriate hearing protection is to be issued and worn.
56. Provide information, instruction, and supervision on when and how to correctly use hearing protection
57. Debris collection and disposal must be supervised to avoid congestion in the working area congestion
58. Housekeeping shall be provided as the work is going where accumulated debris is to be removed to sustain a workable area.
