3. PRODUCT
Concrete Precast, Pre-stressed Girders (see drawings/contact with your engineering & design department)
4. PROCEDURES / EXECUTION
4.1. Preparatory Works
- Project Management to ensure lifting and installation of precast concrete girders are coordinated with
- [Company and client] (if applicable) and other involved departments and personnel.
- The area for installation work shall be ready and clear from disturbances.
- The ground shall be ascertained to be capable of supporting the weight of the crane and load. If mandatory, ground compaction and/ or shoring of the excavation walls shall be done properly and securely.
- Construction team to ensure ground compaction.
- Access, passageway, materials, tools, and equipment required shall be prepared in advance to ensure continuity of work.
- PTW if any is NEEDED for the lifting and installation ACTIVITY must be ready and available at the site.
- The direct work supervisor/Construction Manager shall be present in the lift area.
- 4.2. Lifting and Transfer of Precast Concrete Girders.
- The crane lifting and rigging operation shall be developed and finalized by the Certified, experienced, skilled, and competent Rigger 1 and in close coordination with the Crane Operator and direct work supervisor/Construction Manager.
- All materials, equipment, and personnel must be ready at the site before the lifting operation starts.
- Crane positioned at the pre-determined location (see drawing), inspected and checklist completed, leveled, and barricaded.
- Wire ropes, shackles, taglines, ladders accounted and inspected, lifting and rigging team briefed on the process and series and sporting proper PPEs.
- Supervisors, engineers, and other involved personnel must be present.
- Lifting Wire Ropes (LWRs) shall be rigged on the precast concrete girders on the assigned and particular rigging points on a two-leg double bridle hitch.
- Tag line shall be tied to each end of the girder to guide the load while being suspended and shifted to its location.
- The direct work supervisor shall ensure that the lifting procedure is according to the approved method statement and precast concrete girders are installed according to the plan (See attached Plan and Drawings).
- At the direction of the Rigger manning the operation, precast concrete girders will be lifted above the ground, no more than 50 cm [or as per your requirements] and will be suspended for at least 2 minutes [or as per your requirements].
- The Crane operator shall ascertain that load weight is as stated on the plan, crane mechanical condition, hoist brakes, and sling capacity are according to plan. The rigging crew and direct work supervisor shall check the crane, load, and rigging hardware for any manifestation of fault or failure.
- If all conditions are fit for lift, the crane will swing precast concrete girders to the desired pre-installation location. The load will be kept to as low as possible, in no way will any worker be allowed to work or go under a suspended load. Once the desired location is ascertained, the precast concrete girder will be lowered to support pads.
- The Crane radius shall be kept to as low as described and mentioned on the lift plan. The crane shall never operate beyond the pre-set/assigned and directed lift radius.
- The crane shall position, and reposition if needed to keep the lift radius within the approved plan.
- Crane will continue the lift-and-transfer process to complete two girders for installation/ erection
4.3. Erection of Precast Concrete Girders/Lifting and Installation.
- After completion of the transfer, the crane will be positioned in the location as stated in the lift plan (see lift plan for installation/erection of girders).
- Ground compaction shall be ensured in the area by the construction team, load weight and weight of the crane must be considered in the ground compaction.
- Lifting Wire Ropes (LWRs) shall be rigged on the precast concrete girders on the Particular and pre-set rigging points on a two-leg double bridle hitch. Tag line shall be tied to each end of the girder to guide load while being suspended and maneuvered to its columns.
- At the direction of the Rigger manning the operation, precast concrete girders will be lifted above the ground, no more than 50 cm [or as per your requirements] and will be suspended for at least 2 minutes [or as per your requirements].
- The Crane operator shall ascertain that load weight is as stated on the plan, crane mechanical condition, hoist brakes, and sling capacity is according to plan, and the ground condition is fit for a lift. The rigging crew and direct work supervisor shall check the crane, ground, load, and rigging hardware for any manifestation of fault or failure.
- If all conditions are fit for lift, the crane will lift the precast concrete girder to the desired height and swing load to the installation location. The load will be kept to as low as possible, in no way will any worker be allowed to work or go under a suspended load. Once the desired location is ascertained, the precast concrete girder will be lowered to its bearing pads.
- Crane shall reposition to lift and install/erect the remaining girder.
- A total of 90 [or as per your requirements] precast concrete girders will be lifted, transferred, and installed/erected for the project. Remember! The crane lifting operation shall be a continuous activity during the overall duration of the project.
- This ongoing and current pre-set lift plan shall cover the precast concrete girder lifting operations within the overall duration of the project.
- Lifting operation for the precast girders is considered as Blanket Lift (Multiple lifts), where crane lifts are identical, yet performed on different dates and with minor lifting changes that in no way shall affect the lift plan configuration. (See drawings and critical lift plan)
Note: The lift plan attached is based on the highest point of pier columns. Radius shall not be altered and shall be kept at equal to or less than nine (9) meters [or as per your requirements].
