Hazards

Handling and working with conduit, trunking, or containment system

Consequences:

  • Operatives – cuts and grazes from sharp edges operatives and other
  • Exposure to a solvent such as cement vapor & flammable risk. 
  • Operatives – working at height 
  • Working in confined spaces.

Control Measures

  1. Edges to be smooth at ground level before installation of conduit, trunking or containment system.
  2. Edges checked by operatives before pulling of cables PVC cement to be used in a good ventilation environment in small amounts.
  3. Any liquid chemical or other substance’s Canister/containers to have the top fitted tightly and securely once used to minimize the risk of spillage and contact with an ignition source. 
  4. The storage of the Product is to be kept away from heat, sparks, flames, and all other sources of ignition and properly access controlled.
  5. Before installation of a Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) conduit / trunking system, appropriate and essential consideration of the products/equipment/device/machine to be installed and related/concerned installation practices to be integrated. The installation of PVC Conduit & Trunking panning is to be done based on this information
