This checklist uploaded by QHSE Docs is highly informative and helpful for new parents and others. Parents have the option to download the checklist in an editable format and use it for their kid's safety.
BATHROOM-WATER SAFETY
Keep an eye on children when they
are in or around the water, without being distracted.
Keep smaller children within the arm's
reach of an adult.
Check the temperature of the water
with your wrist or elbow before bathing your baby.
MEDICATION SAFETY
Store all medicines and vitamins
out of the reach and sight of children, including medicines you use every day.
Write clear instructions for other
potential caregivers, including what medicine to give, when to give it, and the
correct dose.
SAFETY DURING SLEEP
Ensure babies sleep on their backs
and in their cribs.
Sharing a room is a safer option
than sharing a bed with your baby.
Choose a stable mattress and adjusted
sheet for your baby's crib.
Keep cribs free of toys, soft
pillows, and soft bedding.
STAIRS AND WINDOWS-FALL PREVENTION
Use approved safety gates at the
top and bottom of stairs, fixing them to the wall, if possible.
Appropriately install child safety gates
and window stops to help stop or prevent falls from windows.
KITCHEN-FIRE SAFETY AND CARBON MONOXIDE
Make sure there is a working smoke
and carbon monoxide detector on every level of your home. Check the batteries
every month.
Design and practice an escape plan
for your home with your family. Learn two ways to get out of each room in case
of fire.
PREVENTION OF BURNS
Use the back burners on the stove
when cooking and keep pan handles away from the rim. Keep hot foods and liquids
off the edge of counters and tables.
Do not carry a child in your arms
while cooking on the stove. It's best to sit your child in a highchair where
you can still see them.
POISON PREVENTION
Store all household cleaning
products and chemicals in their original containers, out of the reach and sight
of children.
Save Poison Help's toll-free number
for emergencies: 000000000.
LIVING ROOM
Prevention of overturning of televisions and/or furniture
Wall-mount flat-panel TVs and place
large, heavy old TVs on a low, stable piece of furniture.
Use brackets or brackets to secure
unstable or very heavy furniture to the wall.
Toy Safety
When choosing a toy or game, check
the instructions and warning labels.
Make sure the toy is compatible with your child's age and development.
Prevent Suffocation and Strangulation
Keep small objects out of the reach
and sight of children. Find and remove small objects at your child's eye level.
Keep cables and cords out of the
reach of children, including those for blinds
