Fire can cause injury, death, and damage to property. The UAE's Civil Defence (CD) responds to emergency 999 calls in the event of a fire. An organization’s Fire Emergency Plan explains the procedures to follow in the event of a fire.

How do fires start?

A. Heat - A source of ignition, e.g., faulty or misused electrical equipment
B. Fuel - Something that will burn, e.g., soft furnishings, dry waste, or packaging materials
C. Oxygen - Found in the atmosphere. eg natural airflow through doors and windows from air-conditioning systems.

If any one of these is missing, a fire cannot start. Steps must be taken to avoid the three coming together and thereby reduce the chances of a fire occurring.

  7. If you see or smell smoke, raise the alarm and investigate immediately
  8. Be aware of the risks from any Hummable, highly combustible, or hazardous materials used or stored on the premises.
