1. Purpose

This methodology document describes and highlights the technical details of the fan installation including its related accessories. The technical work method explains the method used to make sure that the exhaust fan installation has been accomplished and conducted as per the client’s project contract specification, requirements, guidelines, and best technical practices. It also provides details of how the mechanical work will be conducted and what occupational, health safety, and environmental requirements are implemented on the construction project site.

2. Exhaust Fan Delivery, Handling, and Storage

  1. The fan impeller is carefully balanced and centralized inside the fan case; it is therefore vital that notable care is exercised whilst handling the unit.
  2. Don’t and by no means skip lifting slings through the impeller, carefully study, and check the load at the score plate details before complaints to lift and constantly use a spreader.
  3. The fan must be included with oil base coatings, and the bearing ought to be stored smooth, dry, and lubricated. The fan rotor must be stored smooth, dry, and free from corrosive or erosive factors.
  4. The fan rotor needs to be rotated often to circulate lubricants inside the fan bearings and to prevent the brinelling of the bearings.
  5. Never save other substances by stacking or piling gadgets on the fan body.
  6. Spreaders should be employed and positioned to prevent the slings, webbing, etc. from contacting the casing.
  7. Correctly position slings to avoid twisting the unit case and observe the center of gravity before the final lift is made.
  8. Heavyweight/load units will have eyebolts adjusted at each lower corner for hoisting.

3. Pre-Installation Checks

Before commencing the fan installation check that all materials, including optional ancillaries, are available to complete the installation, the details recorded on the fan side rating plate should also be referred to before handling and installation.  Any damages or deviations ought to be reported right away to the seller/supplier/agent quoting the order and product information from the product rating plate.

Rotate the fan impeller via hand to ensure loose and clean rotation and that no transit or coping with harm has happened, have a look at the direction of go with the flow/route of the rotation arrow and make sure that:

  • All optionally available accessories such as guide brackets, inlet cones, guards, flexible connectors, and many others. Are to be had for assembly as part of the constant ductwork device.
  • Anti-Vibration mounts isolate the fan handiest. Attenuators, and/or duct lining, lower back¬ draught dampers, and different ‘sizeable mass’ add-ons must shape part of the constant ductwork after the flexible connection.

4. Installation of Centrifugal Fans

  1. For safety purposes, handle carefully with sharp duct bends and edges and changes before the inlet opening, particularly near the outlet opening.
  2. It is not recommended and suggested to install an angle duct piece immediately after the fan outlet opens.
  3. For proper equalization, use a short, duct for the flow.
  4. The fastening platform must be even and sufficiently sturdy.
  5. When performing an installation, ensure that no bending forces or other mechanical tensions are affecting the fan.
