1.0. PURPOSE

This Method Statement covers installations of wiring devices defined by the Specifications.

2.0. SCOPE OF WORK

This procedure defines the method to be used to ensure that Wiring devices are correctly installed, acceptable, and shall conform to the specifications.

5.0. HEALTH AND SAFETY

General HSE Statement

  • All safety precautions shall be followed as per the approved safety plan & procedures. Ensure that all involved persons are aware of the same.
  • Safety Officer to ensure that all working platforms and ladders shall be safe and in good condition.
  • Make sure that all tradesmen shall leave their working places clean, tidy, and free of rubbish and maintain good housekeeping.
  • Scaffoldings to be used during installation shall be erected properly to ensure the safety of people working on it
  • Use and wear personal protective gear like a safety helmet, safety shoes, safety glasses, etc.

6.0. STORAGE

  • The Wiring devices shall be stored in a dry and clean area.
  • Ensure that wiring devices are in their original manufacturer's packing.
  • A "Material Delivered to Site" form should be submitted to the Consultant for inspection and approval before the materials are installed.
  • Wiring devices shall be stacked neatly.

7.0. PRE-INSTALLATION

  • All materials, drawings, and documentation relevant to this particular section of work will be checked before installation.
  • Before the commencement of works, ensure that the installation area is accessible and in a suitable condition to execute the installations.
  • Ensure that wall and ceiling finishes are completed before installation.
  • Determine the exact location of the materials installed from the approved Shop Drawings.
  • Check that all wiring installations are completed and the wires have been tested for insulation and continuity test.
  • Ensure that the test forms are signed by the Consultant. 
  • The size of the wires shall fit the terminal of the devices

8.0. TOOLS

  • Calibrated Insulation Tester
  • Screw Drivers
  • Blower
  • Pliers 
  • Level

9.0. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

  • It has been presumed that all related wiring and testing have been completed and accepted by the consultant
  • Clear all boxes from cement stains, stones, and foreign materials.
  • Fix wiring devices ensuring that they are fixed properly, rigidly, and squarely aligned.
  • Ensure that the types of wiring devices are the approved type as to the areas where they will be fixed.
  • Ensure that all connections are correct and the wiring devices, boxes, and other metallic parts are adequately earthed. The earthing shall be electrically connected up the final sub-circuit. A 2.5 mm² green and yellow PVC insulated wire shall be used to connect the earth terminal of the switch box.
  • Cover all device plates to protect the devices.

10.0. INSPECTION

After the complete installation of Isolators and disconnect switches in a certain area, a request for inspection shall be raised for the consultant's approval.
